From May, 1966, to May, 1970, NASA operated an instrumented XC-142A at Langley Field in Virginia to investigate additional flying qualities of a tilt-wing airplane. The NASA program was completed when, on May 4, 1970, NASA pilots ferried the airplane to Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio, to be included in the Air Force Museum.
